Preparation Strategy (Focused & Practical)

IBPS Clerk is high-volume and high-competition. A disciplined strategy helps you clear the Prelims and score well in Mains.

1. Understand the Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Start by thoroughly understanding sectional weightage, negative marking (if any), and sectional time limits. Focus on high-scoring topics and build a revision schedule.

2. Create a Weekly Study Plan

Allocate hours to English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, General Awareness, and Computer. Prioritize weak areas but maintain strengths.

3. Practice with Previous Year Papers & Mock Tests

Regular mock tests help build speed and accuracy. Analyze mistakes, revise basics, and track improvement. Time management in sectional tests is crucial.

4. Improve General & Financial Awareness

Read a good monthly current affairs PDF, focus on banking events, RBI circulars, government schemes, and major economic news. Make short notes for last-minute revision.

5. Shortcut & Accuracy for Quant

Learn Vedic tricks and shortcut methods for simplification, tables, ratios, and DI. But do not sacrifice accuracy for speed—practice till accuracy is consistent.

6. Work on English Comprehension Skills

Daily reading of editorials, practicing RCs, and building vocabulary will significantly boost your English score.

Cut-off Trends & Expected Cut-off (Guidance)

Cut-offs vary yearly by difficulty, number of vacancies, and state-wise competition. Historically for IBPS Clerk Prelims, state-wise cutoffs for General category have ranged between 60–85 (out of 100) depending on the state and year. For Mains, aggregate cut-offs vary much more since the exam has higher total marks and different sectional weightage.

  • Carry the printed admit card and original ID proof on exam day.
